Q: What do you mean by providing “ethical” returns for you private lenders and investors?
A: WTC recognizes that most people want to invest in something that is honest and ethical, while preserving their original investment and generating high returns. People are fed up with the corruption, manipulation, and lack of transparency in the stock market. They are tired of the stock-market roller-coaster of uncertainty. Furthermore, in many cases (e.g. mutual funds) they often don’t really know what types of businesses they are investing in, and whether their money is supporting endeavors that are consistent with their values. In contrast, WTC’s returns are based on ethically acquiring real estate and creating value through renovations and improved operations. This strategy helps to improve the overall quality of living within the properties and communities in which WTC invests.
Q: Why are you named WaterTree Capital?
A: The name WaterTree Capital comes from Jeremiah 17:7-8 and Psalm 1:3 in the Bible:
"Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8, NKJV (bold added)
“He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.“ Psalm 1:3, NKJV (bold added)
